Chlorophyll Supreme Shot: How to Make a Fresh Chlorophyll Drink at Home

A fresh, plant-based approach to chlorophyll


Most people think chlorophyll comes from a bottle.


In reality, natural chlorophyll comes from living green plants — leafy greens that still contain enzymes, minerals, and supporting compounds the body recognizes.


This is why I make what I call the Chlorophyll Supreme Shot. It’s a small, concentrated green juice made from fresh greens and herbs, designed to support the body in its most natural form.


In this post, I’ll walk you through what goes into it, how I juice it, how I take it, and why I prefer fresh chlorophyll over bottled alternatives.

What This Is (and What It Isn’t)


This isn’t a sweet juice.

This isn’t a high-yield recipe.

And it’s not something you drink for flavor.


The Chlorophyll Supreme Shot is intentionally low in volume but high in purpose. Because it relies mainly on leafy greens rather than high-water fruits, the yield is smaller — but the intention is different.


This is about function over quantity.


Ingredients


To make the Chlorophyll Supreme Shot, you’ll need:


  • 1 bunch of dandelion greens

  • 5–6 fresh basil leaves

  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger

  • Wild-crafted oregano oil


Ingredient Notes


Dandelion greens are more common than most people realize. In many places — including here in Pittsburgh — people walk right past them without knowing what they’re looking at. That said, I don’t recommend foraging unless you’re absolutely certain the area hasn’t been sprayed or contaminated.


Basil is one of the simplest herbs to grow indoors. Fresh is ideal, but if basil isn’t available, fresh oregano works well as a substitute.


Wild-crafted oregano oil is the most expensive ingredient here, running around $18. A little goes a long way. You’re not using the bottle all at once — and honestly, you shouldn’t. Use it sparingly and with respect, and it will last a long time.



How I Clean My Produce


Before juicing, everything gets soaked in water with key lime and sea salt, then rinsed thoroughly.


This is simply my method — not a rule.

There’s no judgment here. Do what feels right for you.



Juicing the Greens


For this recipe, I use the Kuvings AUTO10, a hopper-style slow juicer, which works really well with leafy greens.


One thing to understand about hopper-style juicers is that they feed produce gradually. Because of that, once the juicing cycle is nearly finished, you may notice some greens sitting along the sides of the hopper rather than moving directly into the auger.


That’s normal.


When that happens, I simply push the remaining greens from the sides closer toward the auger so everything gets fully processed. It’s a quick step and makes sure you get the most out of your produce.


If you were using denser ingredients like apples or cucumbers, those would naturally help pull the greens through. But since this recipe is mostly leafy greens, a little manual guidance at the end is expected — and completely fine.



Yield & Storage


Because leafy greens are lower in water content, this recipe isn’t meant to produce large volumes.


  • Average yield: 8–12 ounces

  • Lasts: 2–3 days, depending on intake


My recommendation is to drink some immediately after juicing, then store the rest. Vacuum sealing or airtight storage helps preserve flavor and freshness as much as possible.


The sooner it’s consumed, the better.



How I Take It


My preferred times to take the Chlorophyll Supreme Shot are:


  • In the morning, after waking and before my first meal

  • In the evening, a few hours before bed


On some days, I’ll take a small glass in the afternoon as well.


This isn’t about rigid rules. Just consistency and awareness.



Why Fresh Chlorophyll Matters


Natural chlorophyll is found in green plants like dandelion greens. These plants don’t just provide chlorophyll — they come with supporting minerals and nutrients that work together.


This is one of the main reasons I prefer fresh greens over bottled products. The body recognizes what comes directly from the plant.
