Peace! It is important to discuss how to break your fast properly, whether you are fasting for religious or health reasons. Knowing how to do so can help you avoid any negative effects on your body.
Tip #1 - Start slowly
First and foremost, it is important to start slowly. Do not jump straight into eating a large meal after a long fast, as this can shock your system and cause discomfort, bloating, and indigestion. Instead, start by slowly reintroducing fiber. A smoothie made solely from fruits (without nuts or seeds) is a great option. Gradually build up to solid foods, starting with small portions and gradually increasing your intake throughout the week as needed.
Tip #2 - Hydrate your body
Secondly, it is important to hydrate your body. Drink plenty of spring water with lemon or lime to rehydrate your system and replenish any lost fluids. You can also opt for coconut water to help restore your body's balance.
"It is not always easy to stop eating the many acidic foods we have enjoyed for so long, but it can be accomplished through cleansing.." – Dr. Sebi
Tip #3 - Choose Nutrient-Dense foods
When it comes to food choices, it is important to choose nutrient-dense foods. This means opting for foods that are high in minerals. Great options include fruits and vegetables, as well as nuts, grains, and seeds.
Avoid processed and sugary foods as they can cause a spike in blood sugar levels and leave you feeling sluggish.
Tip #4 - Importance of mindful eating
In addition to food choices, it is important to focus on mindful eating. Take your time to chew your food properly and savor each bite. This will not only aid in digestion but also help you recognize when you are full, preventing overeating.
Tip #5 - Listen to your body
Lastly, listen to your body. If you feel uncomfortable or experience any negative symptoms, slow down and give your body time to adjust.
